Our Team

As a Director of Sales for Financial Solutions, Mark Lyons is responsible for growing fully-underwritten life sales and leading the fully-underwritten life team here at Senior Market Sales® (SMS). Before joining SMS, Mark got his start in the industry as an attorney in the Advanced Markets department at Mutual of Omaha. He held several different positions in Mutual’s agency and brokerage divisions including National Sales Director for Life and Annuity. He received his law degree from the University of Nebraska, College of Law and has also received a Master of Science in Financial Services degree from The American College.

Throughout his 25 year long career, Mark has held numerous leadership positions in the industry including President of the Omaha Chapter of Financial Services Professionals, Chair and Conference Chair of LIMRA’s Brokerage Sales Committee, and served as a member of LIMRA’s Advanced Sales Committee. With his extensive background, contacts and experience, Mark wants agents to feel comfortable in bringing their large and complicated cases to SMS and know that they will be well-taken care of. “Our team is here for the agents and to support them with any and all of their life insurance needs.”

Mark’s family has lived in Omaha for multiple generations and continues to call the city home. He’s been married to Julie for almost 30 years and has three adult children. Outside of work, Mark likes to stay active. He’s an avid reader of anything related to golf, martial arts and health and exercise science. He still loves playing golf although the sport doesn’t seem to love him anymore and he’s finally at peace with the state of the Husker football program after 20+ years of humility.
