SMS Agents Make Historic First Sales Using iPad App

The Medicare Advantage industry made a historic technology leap this AEP when Senior Market Sales® (SMS) agents in Rockford, IL, completed the first-ever Medicare Advantage enrollments using an iPad app.

“Someday, in the very near future, we believe it will be commonplace for agents to sit across the table from their clients and complete each enrollment right there using an iPad,” said Sam Halpern, Vice President, Divisional Director, Strategic Relationships for Senior Market Sales “These initial iPad enrollments this AEP were an important step toward making that vision a reality.”

Though the app was only released to a small number of agents for the last week of AEP, they still completed 110 enrollments during that time. This number will only continue to grow as SMS makes the app available to more agents. In a survey conducted by Senior Market Sales this summer, 80% of agents said they would be interested in using an iPad to complete enrollments if the option were available.
